Governance & Process Clarifications
- SIP Activation Methods:
- Being codified to reduce ambiguity.
- Some hard forks may not require community votes (CAB + Steering Committee approval) - like Clarity 5 SIP case SIP-039: Clarity 5 and Epoch 3.4 by brice-stacks · Pull Request #256 · stacksgov/sips · GitHub - could do with further clarification
- Steering Committee Composition:
- Proposed: 1 Foundation + 1 Stacks Labs + 1 Community + 2 alternates.
- Community fallback:
- Community can influence voting through forum discussion.
- CABs & Steering Committee
- Both CAB & SC membership also needs rotation/fresh blood.
- Steering: Proposed: 1 Foundation + 1 Stacks Labs + 1 Community + 2 alternates
- Need 3 of 5 quorum for decisions
- One person can serve on up to 3 separate CABs (SIP Editors group can also be considered as a non-voting CAB)
- Repository maintainers have final decision authority on unresolved comments
Next Steps
- Create Stacks Forum post calling for SIP Deputies/Editors and CAB members.
- Blockface to potentially demo full setup process on Monday.
- Jesse continuing SIP-000 markdown cleanup and standards enforcement.
- ZeroAuthority platform Integration ongoing for better SIP management
