What can i do with my username.id?

hello,

i´m new to blockstack and i´m wondering …

some people register not their real names but keywords. does that make sense?
i now it makes sense with a .com domain … you can built a business or sell the names in the aftermarket.
but if somebody registers socks.id or usedcars.id or casino.id … is it possible to set up a business around those names in blockstack? … is .id the .com of the decentralized internet? and i could also register apple.id and don´t worry about trademark issues, correct?

all the apps like postly etc. have no .id adress? if you log in you visit their webpage with an .io extension.
why don´t they use an .id adress?

if i register myname.id how can i present myself? landingpage, website, app?

and can people send bitcoin to your myname.id adress as it is possible in the .eth extension with ether for example?

and one more question … if some successful apps on blockstack launch their own namespace why should i consider to register myname in their extension aswell? .id is the only identity i need, right?

maybe some stupid questions but i don´t really get it yet

thanks for info!

Wow @xxx Thats a lot of questions there!

is it possible to set up a business around those names in blockstack? … is .id the .com of the decentralized internet?

Its the first namespace, so in that way it is.

all the apps like postly etc. have no .id adress? if you log in you visit their webpage with an .io extension.
why don´t they use an .id adress?

Not quite sure what you are asking there. Postly is not related to Blockstack right now. There is no crossover there.

if i register myname.id1 how can i present myself? landingpage, website, app?

You can present yourself however you would like! When you register a name you create a profile for it. That profile is in JSON format and can be displayed however you want. Here is an example of displaying a profile: https://explorer.blockstack.org/name/jack_zampolin.id

and can people send bitcoin to your myname.id1 adress as it is possible in the .eth extension with ether for example?

When creating a name you are given a 12 word keychain phrase that holds a BTC wallet in addition to your name. Use the wallet addresses for sending funds. There is no ETH wallet in Blockstack right now.

and one more question … if some successful apps on blockstack launch their own namespace why should i consider to register myname in their extension aswell? .id is the only identity i need, right?

This is correct, however apps may provide incentives for registering names in their namespaces and you may want to register another name.

Hope this helps!
