Upcoming Stacks Roadmap Workshop Series

Hey Stackers, it’s time to revisit the public facing roadmap together and capture the latest great ideas while aligning around top priorities! These sessions have yielded important discussions in the past by surfacing deeper insights from key builders and discussing shared needs with the wider community. We’re excited for the latest edition and are bringing you a fuller slate of sessions than ever before!

This time around, we’ll (your friends here at the Stacks Foundation) be hosting the sessions with a lineup of guest appearances from Stacks Labs, Stacks Endowment, and the top builders and contributors in Stacks.

What to Expect

We’re exploring the technical and product progression of the Stacks ecosystem, including:

  • Performance Improvements: Enhancing the core Stacks blockchain.

  • Bitcoin Staking: Establishing staking as the economic engine for Bitcoin DeFi on Stacks

  • Highlighted Builder & Partner Feedback: Sharing of feedback and research that’s already been collected

  • AI Enablement: How Stacks can further embrace and support AI technologies.

  • Governance: Hosted in partnership with ZeroAuthorityDAO, this session will discuss the ‘next generation’ of Governance tooling with previews of what’s already in the works.

  • Key Launches: Aligning on the most critical releases for the coming year.

Expected Evolution of the Roadmap

As a decentralized ecosystem, Stacks has navigated complexity when it comes to roadmap planning: coordinating across teams, aligning on ownership, and balancing the goal of working in the open with the challenge of scoping work before committing to dates and specifics, especially in an environment where dependency conditions are evolving in real time.

Thanks to the community’s approval of SIP-031, core contributors have been able to address much of that through meaningful structural changes, and of course, the incredible team now at Stacks Labs. For this updated approach to the roadmap, that means increased velocity, tighter feedback loops for builders, and concrete wins like the rapid rollout of the sBTC reward program in late 2025 and the active vote on Clarity 5 moving quickly to address builder needs.

Coming out of this year’s sessions, we expect the roadmap format itself to evolve. There’s already loose alignment between Stacks Labs contributors and the Treasury Committee around an approach that centers on high-level vision and major milestones. Adjusting this makes Stacks’ vision easier to understand for more people and it allows for more focus on real outcomes and progress rather than speculative feature dates. Builders will always stay in the loop on delivery targets for active projects and key launches.

Go vote on Clarity 5 :orange_heart:

Last but not least, don’t forget to vote for Clarity 5 — core developers are shipping upgrades continuously!
