Given our recent woes in Stacks Testnet caused by the block storm in bitcoin testnet, I am wondering if it would be a good idea for us to start our own custom bitcoin signethttps://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Signet#Custom_Signet and use that as the base to build a more stable testnet.
It appears there is still no consensus around soft-forking a fix for testnet3 vs starting a new testnet4 and abandoning testnet3. Testnet4 including PoW difficulty adjustment fix by fjahr · Pull Request #29775 · bitcoin/bitcoin · GitHub
Perhaps we can keep testnet as is and see if testnet3 ever gets fixed via softfork, while simultaneously starting an official Stacks Signet which is based of a custom signet.
It is possible these discussions have already happened. If so, please point me to those discussions.
I would very much like to see a vibrant testing environment that all ecosystem participants take active role in for Stacks.
