I am currently logged into the Blockstack browser in one tab while the update was installed in another tab. I was prompted to enter my password to complete the update. The password I saved is no longer working (I must have saved it incorrectly).
Since I’m logged in, in another tab, I can still browse within the browser. Is there a way to reset my password or recovery my id without the current password?
During the setup, it should have asked you to document and confirm you saved your 12 word Recovery Phrase? Do you still have that? (do not share it here) …

For clarification,
During the setup process, the Blockstack-Browser just presents you with the 12 words for the recovery phrase, it was upto you to save it somewhere. (like writing it down, saving it to file and a thumb drive, ect) - Thats why the confirmation explicitly asks you to confirm you saved it by also providing it as an input again.
If you didnt deposit funds nor register an actual name then you should be ok to just start from scratch.
Did deposit BTC? if so how much?
Did you register a name? if so whats the name?
This is just like a conventional bitcoin wallet in the sense that you need to take extra care to not lose your password or recovery phrase else you can lose your names and funds by locking yourself out.
Yes I understand. I thought it saved, it did not. I didn’t deposit bitcoin. I did register my name - kevinvalentine.id
ID-1PYoGXU6RukgyUWcMajT5J6FhsxzEJXrUm. I transferred it from Onename, confirmed by twitter, hacker news & github identities.
If you don’t have the password or the recovery phrase, to my knowledge then you are locked out.
However I’m not one of the core blockstack engineers…
So with that being said I’ll let one of them confirm or correct this

Hey @kdvalentine, sorry to hear you’re having trouble!
The 12-word recover phrase is used to derive your ID’s private key. It never leaves your computer. If it’s truly lost, then there’s nothing we can do; you’ll have to generate a new one
But before doing that, there are a couple other things you can try:
When you type in your 12-word password, can you confirm that there are no trailing spaces at the beginning or end? For example, “Alice Bob Charlie” would be valid, but “Alice Bob Charlie " and " Alice Bob Charlie” are not valid.
Can you try doing a hard-refresh? This is Ctrl+F5 on Chrome. You can also try opening in an incognito window.
