Open Source the Forum + Integrate sBTC for Real Use

yo stackers,

With sBTC live and adoption growing, this forum (that I follow for a while) is becoming the go-to spot for booster ideas and amazing progress. But it’s not open source.

I’d like to propose we open source the forum and evolve it into an experimental space where devs and users can actually use sBTC—send, receive, tip, fund posts, bounties, etc. as a way to test satoshis in the Stacks Network.

Benefits I see:

  • More community contribution (plugins, tools, experiments)
  • Direct feedback loops for Stacks projects.
  • New layer of interaction using sats (research funding, dev support, tipping, etc.)

This could be rolled out in stages:

  1. Open source the forum repo.
  2. Allow optional wallet connections (Xverse, Leather, etc.).
  3. Enable sats actions within threads and replies.

Stacks is about composability and open collaboration—let’s make the forum reflect that spirit.

Eager to read your thoughts :))

You’re right, it would be cool if the Stacks forum used wallet login and enabled micropayments and other Stacks integrations. I would guess that this forum is just using Discourse, so it’s technically already open source. Someone from the Stacks Foundation might know if it is self-hosted or using one of their hosting plans. I’m not familiar with how their plugin system works, but maybe your ideas are possible using plugins.
