Introducing Stacks Office Hours on Twitter Spaces

Dear Stacks Community,

We are thrilled to introduce a new initiative that we hope will provide an open platform for discussion, learning, and growth. We are launching the Stacks Office Hours, a weekly event hosted on Twitter Spaces. This forum will provide an opportunity for everyone in the community to share ideas, ask questions, and learn more about Stacks.

The Stacks Office Hours are designed to be an inclusive environment where every member of the community feels welcome to participate, regardless of their experience level or role. If you have questions about running nodes, using wallets, or becoming a developer, we encourage you to bring them to these sessions. If you’re an expert on a certain topic or just curious to learn more, this is the place for you.

Our weekly sessions will take place every Wednesday evening at 8 PM Eastern US time. While we aim to answer all questions during the meeting, please understand that some questions might require further research or resources. In such cases, we pledge to do our best to gather the necessary information and guidance for you post-session.

One of the goals of the Stacks Office Hours is to provide a consolidated space where the latest news, updates, and topics of interest from the Stacks ecosystem can be discussed. We understand that information is disseminated through various channels such as our forum, Twitter, and other online platforms. Therefore, we see the Stacks Office Hours as an opportunity to encapsulate these discussions, ensuring all relevant topics are covered and accessible to the community.

To join us for the very first Stacks Office Hours, please follow this link: Twitter Space. We are truly excited to embark on this journey with you, fostering an even more open, collaborative, and knowledgeable ecosystem.

We look forward to your participation and can’t wait to see what we’ll build together in the Stacks community.

Best,
-AcrossFire

Hey, sounds great! A few questions/comments:

  1. Who is we? Is this hosted by a company or team or just you and some Stacks friends? Just curious on this one
  2. Office Hours on Twitter may be tough, something where everyone can easily unmute to talk is usually preferred for events like that unless you’re doing more of a ‘podcast’ style where only a few people can chat
  3. Any reason not to put this on the main calendar? Events - Stacks Ecosystem

Hey @cuevasm - good points.

  1. I’ll be hosting but in general it is part of the wider SIP initiative and will be closely related to the efforts previously done by @HeroGamer and others. In general I dont want it to be focused on any individual person but instead position it as a community spearheaded effort.
  2. This is true, it can be tricky to have lots of people participating in Twitter spaces, however that seems to be where the people are and it has the lowest barrier of entry for people coming in and checking out whats going on in the community. When previously hosting calls on Zoom, lots of people tend to feel like its some external group they are not part of, we want this in front of end users as much as possible with low friction to join so Twitter will be the place we will start for now. Obviously if we find a better place going forward that works better we are happy to switch. We will learn as we go.
  3. Good point - will get this added.

  1. Sounds good, I think mainly looking for a point of contact should something come up
  2. Interesting, the Zoom call links are typically listed, but ok. Discord is also great for open voice chats.
  3. Sweet
