Final Stacks 1.0 Hardfork Successful, Preview Stacks 2.0

Blockstack’s annual hard fork was successfully completed last week. We anticipate this latest hard fork to be the last one initiated by Blockstack PBC itself , marking an important step on our path to decentralization.

Since publishing our plan for decentralization in 2018, Blockstack PBC has been steadily working to build “a healthy ecosystem where no single party has too much control of the network.”

Following last week’s hard fork, PBC core engineers will continue research and development on Stacks 2.0, but we expect that all protocol changes will be triggered by nodes on the network.

We’re excited about this development and, in light of the launch of the Stacks 2.0 blockchain, look forward to seeing more input from community members regarding Clarity, Stacking, and Proof of Transfer.
