Talent Referral

We want to support great companies and talented developers in the Blockchain/Blockstack space. The Blockstack team potentially can help with product feedback, sourcing talent, intro’s to VCs or possibly direct investment. We also plan to reward referrals! If you know someone who is the space - even if they are unfamiliar with Blockstack, we’d love to talk to them. Please send intro’s to Xan - [email protected]. To get started.

  • Note: Xan will be putting together some guidelines for referrals. We will link those guidelines in this post when they are published.

New Evangelist Toolkit

Our 1st Version of the Evangelist Toolkit is live!
https://forum.blockstack.org/t/evangelist-toolkit/

This page will be used as an index for all resources available to Evangelist. You can consider this page as the hub or starting place for finding any templates, instructions etc.

If you create any content (presentations, swag files etc.), you’d like to share with other Evangelists, please link it in the comments and we’ll add it to the list! The more resources the better.

New Contribute Page

Announced in the resent Newsletter, Blockstack now has a page for reward community projects: https://contribute.blockstack.org/ . This page will highlight ways to contribute to the Blockstack community to earn stacks.

Event activity will be added to this page shortly. If you have other ideas for projects to add to the contribute page, please let us know.

Evangelist Meeting Format

Evangelist Meetings will be held every other week, on Thursday at 10:30am PT. If you would like to be added to the re-occuring invite list. Please email JB at [email protected].

Evangelist Communication Channels

The Blockstack team is reviewing alternative options to a decentralized Slack. It’s unlikely there will be a full solution in the next few weeks, but in the interim, we have created an official evangelist slack channel to focus our conversation.

  • If you do not have access to the official evangelist Slack Channel. Please email [email protected] for an invite.
  • If you have not been onboarded as an official Evangelist (meaning you have not hopped on a call with the Community team). Sign up to do so here.

Call for new Evangelists

We’re always looking for more evangelists to join our community! Email us if you think someone you know in Los Angeles or Austin would be a good fit.

Questions Asked on the Call

Matt: Where can we find an official Blockstack Product Roadmap? Is there a good source of truth?
  • Muneeb will follow up and publish something soon. We’ll update this post as soon as we have one ready.
Ricardo: Regarding the community rewards, anything we could offer to people who speak on behalf of Blockstack on the MeetUps? In the case of Berlin we’ll train someone to speak, so it would be nice to have a reward to offer He is open but he is not a user of Blockstack.
  • Yes! We’re putting together some structure to offer bounties for both organizing and speaking at Blockstack events. Those Bounties will be posted on https://contribute.blockstack.org/
Vaasu:Is the Meetup Pro Email from Mitchell legit?
  • Yes. Blockstack has a Meetup Pro account, which you all can use. We take cover of the cost so you dont have to worry about the expense. It also comes with some great benefits, like hosting events for free in Wework locations. Emails [email protected] if you’d like to get started.
Omar: I would like to learn more about the tech side of Blockstack. Access to material would be a big big help. Where can I go to get a bunch of materials.
  • http://blockstack.org/devs is best place to get started. This page is also the best place to send developers who want to learn more. We’ll be putting together some more training to help Evangelists better understand the tech as well (most likely this will be covered in an upcoming Evangelist meeting)
Omar: How many people are in this Evangelist Community? I'd love to hear how people get on this call?
  • Blockstack is doubling down on Community support. We hired a small team at the beginning of the year to pull together more resources, sponsorship, and tools to enable local evangelists wanting to do more with Blockstack tech. Anyone who’s been officially onboard
can attend this call. We have roughly 50 people in this group, but it’s growing rapidly!
Omar: What do you guys do at your meetups? Im curious how to start?
  • Answer from Mike: This space is still really new. I just wanted to get good people in a room together to talk about it and figure it out. I went to meetup.com put together an event and started hosting 30 people. Each event has a speaker that runs through a topic or technology."]
Nguyen: Can we get the T-shirt designs to print a t-shirts for local events?
  • Yes! We’re putting these together now and will post the links in the Evangelist Toolkit. Blockstack is also happy to pay for the shirts! Send us an email to get budget approved.

Greetings,

I will be attending Google I/O Extended 2018 Atlanta meetup where I’m hoping to recruit Aaron Hillegass for Atlanta. His Big Nerd Ranch would be an awesome asset to the growth of both organizations.

I would appreciate any suggestions or comments on my proposal. Despite my enthusiasm, I am very new to pushing past my insecurities in this manner. And I feel I have this community to thank for giving me the added confidence to keep trying.

Excelsior!

Hi @IBLoud Happy to provide some tips.

At the moment, Im not clear what you plan to pitch Aaron Hillegass on. Are you asking him to include Blockstack in his curriculum? Host a meetup? Review our platform? The more specific the ask, easier it will be for Aaron to respond.

I’m not sure. Since the event is specifically for Google I/O I didn’t want to be rude. So my approach was going to be initiate contact and gauge interest. I’ve attempted to open the discussion with my tweet. At the event I plan to follow up and go from there.

Having this thread as a resource allows me to easily share knowledge I may not have the answers to however, if I am able to connect him with this forum that would be a step in the right direction.

Correct?
