Engineering Update - Week 4, Feb 2016

This past week and a half we had a bunch of big updates. On February 25th we announced a new website for blockstack.org, featuring the newly released Blockstack command line interface (CLI), the Blockstack academic paper, and about a dozen articles around installation and usage of the command line interface, as well as how the Blockstack software system works and more.

Here are the Blockstack articles found on blockstack.org:

Here’s a link to the academic paper:

With the command line interface, you can:

  • lookup names
  • get price estimates on names
  • register names
  • update DNS records associated with your names
  • transfer your names to other addresses
  • fund your account to pay for names
  • receive names from other clients

The command line interface is simple to install. In many cases, all you need to do is:

sudo pip install blockstack

For more information, view the installation guide mentioned above.

We highly encourage you to play around with the CLI. It’s actually a really cool experience to fund your CLI and then register names and manage them on your own.

If you do install and play around with the CLI, please let us know. We’d love to hear your thoughts and we’re always looking for ways to improve.

Also, message anyone in the community at any time in the Blockstack Slack: http://chat.blockstack.org.

Enjoy!
Ryan
