2. Key Meeting Highlights
Smart Contract Diagnosis: Victor’s Contract Deployment Issue
- Today’s focus shifted to a real-world debugging case from Victor’s crowdfunding app. Gary and Setzeus examined the contract.
- Issue: Victor faced issues broadcasting transactions for his crowdfunding app due to a failed authorization check.
- Contract: STX Transaction - fda52…412c3
- Diagnosis: Error-302 “Campaign not found” and error-309 “no verification” were identified as root causes.
- Solution: Victor needs to first “verify” as a filmmaker before “creating campaigns”. Suggested initializing contract with “map-set” for deployer.
Security Trait Standard Discussion
- Topic: Security Trait Standards for Clarity: Access Control, Pausable Contracts & More Forum post
- Feedback: Traits cannot be used for inheritance in Clarity. Suggested using “template contracts” instead.
- Alternative Approach: Verify on-chain through registry system and use contract hash matching for safety status.
- Friedger’s Perspective: Contracts should be ownerless to maintain protocol integrity.
Learning Resources and Tips
- Signature Workshop: Scheduled for next Clarity WG session.
- Roadmap for Learning Clarity:
- Clarity Book (by Marvin)
- 100 Days of Clarity course / Youtube (by Setzeus)
- Recommendations:
- Setzeus: Avoid using AI or VS extensions initially
- Setzeus: Write important smart contracts line by line (BNS v2, sBTC protocols, POX 4)
- Friedger: Use syntax highlighters and Clarinet - https://source-of-clarity.com
- Setzeus: Focus on solving customer pain points, not blockchain technicalities. “Don’t fall in love with tech features over user benefits.” - quote.
Filmmaker Verification, Onboarding, and Value Proposition
- Verification Approach:
- Use existing web identities for verification to avoid high storage/CDN costs.
- Consider BNS v2 and zone files to store pointers to these identities on-chain.
- Victor’s Field Experience:
- Filmmakers are interested in the outcome (access to funding) rather than technical features.
- Their main question was about liquidity: “Where’s the liquidity?” indicating a focus on financing and capital injection.
- Community Advice:
- Focus on solving user pain points: more money (funded projects)
- Emphasize financing value over technical jargon, positioning CineX as a media financing solution.
