Great callout - you’re right that I wrote that and that the language is used elsewhere. My explanation would be that the word “upgrade” is a bit vague and that I didn’t want to say “this is the new BNS”, but instead more like “this is a way to get upgraded functionality for the names you already have”. After launching / announcing I’ve seen how many don’t like that language so I’m trying to find a better word for it. Even “migrate” sounds like a new system. “Wrap” is maybe better but then confuses folks.
I think my explanation here is consistent with the design of BNSx - if it were trying to be a true upgrade, it wouldn’t be so strict about maintaining consistent state with BNS.
Either way, sounds like we’re on the same page
